A Cherished 90th Birthday Gift for Grandfather: Personalized Family Tree Painting

For this project, I infused the painting with details that reflected the grandfather’s vibrant personality. Known for feeding wildlife with his wife (who sadly passed away before this painting was commissioned), I painted him surrounded by squirrels and birds, including a woodpecker, which I meticulously researched for authenticity. It turned out that British squirrels look exactly like American gray squirrels!

A baritone (a first for my work), the instrument my client’s grandfather played in church, took center stage alongside the church itself in the background, paired with Highclere Castle from Downton Abbey, a nod to their hometown. A golf bag beside him and a basket of yarn with baking items for his wife highlighted their hobbies, adding a nostalgic touch to the scene. Each detail in the painting was crafted to honor the grandfather’s legacy.

The family tree featured the names of the couple’s children and grandchildren elegantly inscribed on leaves.
