Engagement Gift: Custom Couple Illustration

While my custom family tree paintings are a beloved staple, I also pour my heart into creating unique couple and family portraits, often featuring cherished pets who are family in every sense. Each illustration is a fresh creation, tailored to reflect the couple’s story with personal details that make it truly one-of-a-kind. This vibrant artwork, commissioned as an engagement gift from parents to their daughter, captures a young couple’s love with a delightful blend of cultural heritage and shared passions.

For this outdoorsy duo, I envisioned a cozy picnic scene brimming with meaning. The young woman’s Ukrainian roots inspired a spread of pierogi, kielbasa, pickles, and scallions on her side, while her partner’s Italian heritage shone through with pizza, olives, and tomatoes with mozzarella. Sunflowers and poppies, nestled in a traditional Ukrainian ceramic vase, added a festive touch, honoring the engagement milestone. Their professions in medicine were celebrated with a vintage doctor’s bag and stethoscope, while a basket of yarn nodded to her knitting hobby, and biking helmets on either side reflected their active lifestyle.

To anchor the painting in their world, I included the Pittsburgh skyline in the background—a challenging yet rewarding endeavor that required meticulous attention to detail to capture the city’s iconic buildings. The result is a warm, joyful portrait that weaves together their love, heritage, and dreams. The couple’s pets also joined the scene.
