Special One-of-a-Kind Mother’s Day Gift: Custom Family Tree Painting

This memorable project came from a group of siblings from the UK, who ordered a luxurious Mother’s Day surprise for their mom in early spring, aligning with the UK’s celebration, which is different from the United States. Their thoughtful gesture, sent across continents, inspired me to create a vibrant painting that radiated pure joy. It was my very first family tree order for Mother’s Day, and I wanted to make it spectacular. Since my clients had the budget for a large family tree, I had an opportunity to go to town painting as many little details as my heart desired. My favorite detail ended up being the family tree itself because I  love magnolias. There’s one in my backyard! It turned out that my clients’ mother’s favorite tree was a magnolia as well. So, I just used it for the painting.

Full-body portraits brought the family to life, each family member holding a prop reflecting their unique passions: a miniature building for the architect son, a daughter-in-law making a heart shape with her hands, and playful items for the grandchildren, like a rubber duck, soccer ball, and Captain America costume, showcasing their budding personalities.

These personal details transformed the artwork into a vivid celebration of their mother’s journey, designed to spark delight as she discovered each element.
