If you’re looking for a sentimental gift for your parents’ 60th wedding anniversary you might want to consider getting them a customized family tree illustration. Each family tree I create is hand-painted and one-of-a-kind. The artwork could feature portraits of just your parents or your whole family. You can choose from several portrait styles from head shorts to full-body portraits. In this particular example, my client chose to have his parents depicted as full-body portraits. I painted the rest of the family as pictures in frames hanging of the tree branches. For a sentimental touch, I also added a portrait of the couple on their wedding date. The tree also features everyone’s names on the leaves and a banner with the family name. While only the couple’s children and grandchildren are in the picture the great-grandchildren are also represented (as names only).
Before starting this 60th wedding anniversary family tree gift I’ve discussed all the details with my client. I always add objects that represent the couple’s hobbies to my art and this tree wasn’t an exception. So we agreed on a sewing basket to represent his mom’s hobbies and a toolbox for his dad’s.
One of my favorite things about this family tree illustration is the color scheme. I happen to love the color purple and it went really nicely with the bright green in the background. I got the idea of painting the background in the portraits purple after seeing a picture of my client’s mom in a purple sweater. Consequently, it’s the sweater she’s wearing in my painting.
