The client provided photos of the family, the historic building, and the new space, setting the stage for a deeply personal tribute to their legacy and new chapter.

To elevate the painting beyond a simple family portrait, I delved into the business’s story, uncovering details that brought the artwork to life. Online, I discovered images from their auctions showcasing antiques—vintage clocks, ornate lamps, and classic furniture—which I wove into the background as tribute to their trade. One standout find was a story about a big gorilla sculpture that stood outside the original building for years, becoming a local landmark. I incorporated this quirky icon into the scene, placing it alongside the old building to evoke nostalgia and happy memories. I placed the new warehouse, sleek and modern, opposite their old building, symbolizing the family’s forward-looking vision while honoring their roots.
