40th wedding anniversary gift for aunt and uncle

I’m a believer in the importance of an extended family. Great aunts, stepdads, aunts and uncles should all play a role in a person’s life. The more people who love you and whom you love the better. When I moved to the U.S. the concept of not keeping in touch with your family members was as foreign to me as …being a foreigner in a new place. However, with time I’ve came to realize that the family relations in many families are not as different from my native Ukraine as I’ve originally imagined. When I started my family tree painting business I was pleasantly surprised of how many people commission my artwork for their extended family members. Most of all, for their aunts and uncles.

I think it speaks volumes about a couple whose niece of nephew is willing to put an effort into finding a perfect gift for an aunt and uncle’s wedding anniversary. The truth is that it has become so quick and easy to find an anniversary gift online. There is a million of the so-called ‘personalized’ but hardly personal gifts that take five minutes to order. So I’m always impressed when someone (especially a young person) takes his or her time to do the research in order to find a truly one-of-a-kind gift for an aunt and uncle they love and appreciate.

40 year marriage anniversary gift with meaning

A young lady has recently contacted me about creating a family tree gift for her uncle and aunt’s 40th anniversary.  She wanted to give them a gift that would hold a special meaning for them, as opposed to just a personalized gift. I thought it was SUPER sweet of my client to care this much for her extended family!  So I made sure to make her aunt and uncle’s family tree as special as possible.

My client asked me to paint an 8X10 family tree, (the smallest size I offer). However, for me as an artist it truly makes no difference whether I’m working on a huge canvas or small. Whenever I paint I  always give it my all.  I also try to make each one of my family tree illustrations into something truly personal for the couple. My objective is to make each one of my artworks unique. Between us, it’s not so easy at times to come up with a new concept for every single family tree painting I’m working on. However, I never give up!

One cannot go wrong with a sentimental wedding anniversary gift!

This particular family tree painting was no different. I sat down in front of a blank sheet of watercolor paper. Took my time to think long and hard about what I’m going to paint. That’s when I remembered seeing a photo of a couple holding a red heart. It was such a cute concept that I decided to recreate it for the painting.  To make it extra-personal I added the couple’s wedding date to the heart.  For an extra sentimental touch I used the mountains of Ecuador (where the couple is from) for the background.

Although small in size the family tree came out really beautiful and the best part is that my client loved it!
