One of my clients agreed with me and have ordered a family tree painting featuring his parents as an 80th birthday gift for his dad. It was a medium size elegant family tree with full body portraits of his parents and the names of children and grandchildren written on leaves. My client requested to have Chicago Botanical gardens for the painting’s background. I did some research and was fascinated by the beauty of the grounds. The landscaping looked so uncluttered and classy. It inspired me to paint the artwork in the same style: classy and uncluttered.

Simple, elegant, classy is the answer
I used solid colors in the painting to keep it simple and I’ve repeated similar colors throughout the painting. I made my client’s parents the focal point in the painting by dressing them up in bright colors and making them look straight at the viewer. For the tree itself I decided to go with a simple look and only painted the leaves with the family members’ names. I was extremely happy with the final result and thankfully so were my client’s parents.
