Romantic 50th wedding anniversary gift
A special occasion like a 50th wedding anniversary deserves to be commemorated in a special way. A gift for such an occasion needs to be something exceptional. It has to be thoughtful, meaningful, and above all it needs to be romantic. After all, what is more romantic than two people who spend their lifetimes together?
So what exactly is a romantic gift? Everyone has their own definition, of course. For a woman it could be a piece of jewelry, or a romantic getaway. A man might find a fishing trip romantic. People’s tastes vary… If you’re not sure what to give to a couple celebrating 50 years of marriage choose a gift that tells their life story, such as their own custom family tree painting. Regardless of their personal tastes you can never go wrong with a custom-made piece of art that summarizes their life together in stunning detail. Family tree painting featuring a couple’s portrait and the names of their children and grandchildren is not just a sentimental gift. It’s also the type of a gift they will proudly display in their home forever.
Celebrate your parents on their 50th anniversary
As a child of a couple about to celebrate 50 years of marriage you’re probably looking for an anniversary gift with meaning. You want to give your parents a gift that is both unforgettable and unique. A special gift that will show your parents how much you love them, and how grateful you are for everything they have done for you. I’m sure you would also like it to be something that tells your parents that you put a lot of thought into their gift.  As you should! After all, your parents will only be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary once in their lives. As you can imagine I’m always truly honored when people choose my family tree art for such a gift, and I always make sure to go above and beyond my client’s expectations.
One of my goals as an artist is to make each one of my family tree paintings unlike any other I’m done previously. At times coming up with a unique visual element that ‘pops’ takes quite an effort. Other times, I get some great ideas as soon as I hear my client’s description of his/her parents’ hobbies, etc.
Such was the case with one of my recent clients when she told me that her mother loves quilting. As soon as I heard that I had a pretty interesting idea. In a lot of my family tree paintings I add a banner at the bottom of the artwork with the couple’s last name and their wedding date. So I asked my client if I could paint a banner for her parents’ family tree and make it look like a quilt. She thought it was a great idea, and I proceeded with my plan.
Banner quilt…Â Oh, boy!
I ended up spending more time painting that banner than any other element in the painting. I honestly don’t know how people create complex quilts and don’t mess up the pattern. It felt like my brain was exploding as I was trying to keep all the ‘patches’ symmetrical. Of course, I suppose a quilter can start over when they mess up… While as an artist who works in watercolor I pretty much have one shot of getting everything in my painting just right. To make a long story short – the banner came out just as I’ve envisioned it. While I painted the rest of the painting in subtle colors, the quilt at the bottom gave the artwork that extra oomph I always look for.
