A truly personal and personalized gift for parents on their wedding anniversary
A ‘successful’ custom family tree painting is a creative reflection of the couple and their family. It’s an artwork that portrays not just the family members’ likeness’, but also their personalities. To give a family tree painting a very personal feel it has to has to incorporate the family’s favorite past times, history, hobbies, etc. To ensure that my family trees are as unique as the families they’re for, I, as an artist, work closely with my clients to figure out what would be the best direction for me to take the painting into.
One of the recent projects I have worked on involved a very active couple about to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They were both musicians who raised five children and growing up all the kids were a part of a family band. Now how cool is that?
Nowadays, the parents dedicate a lot of their free time to traveling, with the wife taking a lot of awesome photos of their travels and the husband organizing the photos into scrapbooks. Upon hearing these fun details I’ve decided to take this couple’s family tree painting into a direction very different from most of my family tree artwork. I figured I could make the painting look like a page out of a scrapbook with the photos that the wife has taken during their travels serving as the background.
Since both parents play the guitar and enjoy performing I depicted them sitting up on stage, each holding a guitar. The tree itself I made to look like a stage decoration as opposed to a real 3-dimentional tree. Instead of using the habitual green for the leaves I have chosen to go with purple. The combination of the yellow of the scrapbook page’s background with the purple leaves gave the painting a very artsy, unique feel. The best part was that my clients agreed that this was a very good choice for their musician parent’s family tree painting.
Guitars, stage and a scrapbook page make this family tree as unique and original as people it was given to as the 50th marriage anniversary gift.
